Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Our Limerick based client is currently expanding their software engineer team now have a vacancy for an experienced embedded software engineer.

The embedded software team is responsible for developing firmware in all sensor and gateway components of the SiCA Platform. A proven track record in bringing high quality industrial products to market is preferred. This position requires excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to excel within a growing engineering team.

Role Purpose
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Software Development Engineer with excellent Object Oriented design and development skills in Java. Knowledge of the C programming language is a definite advantage. Responsibilities will also include software architecture design, development, testing and integration of existing software components.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
 • A Bachelor or higher degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent industry experience
 • 5+ years of experience in software design and development in Java
 • 3+ years of experience in embedded product development
 • In-depth knowledge of the embedded Linux development environments
 • Experience developing Java in a real-time data processing environment with limited system resources
 • Experience working with web servers TCP/IP communications protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, SSL)
 • Knowledge of web based data transfer protocols (Web Services/XML) embedded web design (JS/CSS/HTML)
 • Knowledge of serial communications protocols (RS232/RS485/SPI/I2C) a definite advantage
 • Experience developing with cellular communications technology (3G/GPRS etc.)
 • Proven development track record in owning and delivering a complex software component or product.
