Responsibilities
The Senior Engagement Manager / Client Principal role is expected to be the single contact point for all Moody's Analytics software and advisory businesses in Australia. The person should be able to deal with matters regarding new businesses (sales and contract negotiation), projects (oversee project progress, final escalation point for issues) and revenue and PL. The successful candidate is expected to be a team leader who is capable of leading a team of about 5-10 consultants
- Lead individual risk management consulting projects by helping financial institutions more effectively measure, manage and control their exposure to risk.
- Lead projects and ensure project completion by developing project plans; determining staffing needs; managing the day-to-day project schedule, scoping and deliverables; leading status meetings; managing the project budget; and communicating status and results.
- Manage expectations and manage communications with clients.
- Support business development efforts and work as a key member of the pre-sales team.
- Assist in the setting and managing of a target book of business based on volume of engagements to be led within a given year or quarter.
- Identify topics of interest to risk practitioners, providing ideas and input, harvesting ideas from prior projects, conducting primary and secondary research, writing white papers and presentations, and contributing to the overall company research agenda.
- Provide counsel to clients on risk management issues, and may evaluate significant transactions and/or capital commitments prior to execution.
- Evaluate new products and strategies to assess their impact on the client's risk profile.
Qualifications
- At least 15 years of working experiences in finance and consulting roles, with at least 5 years in similar capability as Engagement Manager / Client Principal.
- Deep understanding of the banking and finance industry, especially in loan origination business and credit risk management.
- Preferably have worked in Australia for the last 10 years.
- Must have led a team and possess good leadership skills.
- Track record of successful project management, preferably within a commercial banking or capital markets environment.
- Experience as a team leader with responsibility for managing stakeholder expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Familiarity with risk-related concepts; knowledge of Basel II a plus.
- Experience scoping, pricing and planning complex projects.
- Experience writing proposals and supporting business development activities.
- International experience a plus.
- Clear written and oral communication skills with an ability to communicate complex concepts to a senior audience.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Position requires approximately 30% travel.
- Undergraduate/first-level degree (e.g., Bachelor's degree) required.
- Graduate/second-level degree (e.g. MBA, Master's), CFA or Ph.D. a plus.
Department
This role will lead risk management consulting projects that aid client companies in assessing, managing and controlling their exposure to risk. Additionally, this role will contribute to Moody's overall research agenda by keeping abreast of, and writing white papers and presentations about topics of interest to risk practitioners.
