Senior Engineer (Supercharger)

Eaton Corporation located in Marshall, MI has an opening for a Senior Engineer in our Supercharger Applications Engineering Team. The primary responsibilities of this position are as follows: 50% design activities: Specific duties include working with customers to understand specifications, design / functional requirements; create packaging solutions for complex engine environment; create design solutions for low cost and manufacturing while meeting engineering requirements. 50% engineering activities: Translate customer requirement into product requirement. Develop and validate designs and production launch new applications; PDM/PLM document release and control; responsible for prototype hardware and sample builds at the customer; responsible for post-test unit return and analysis; reporting / presenting results of post-test unit analysis; frequent interaction with both suppliers and customers; attend on-site meetings at both customers and suppliers; responsible for DFM/DFA, DFMEA and DVPR execution; frequent interaction with Eaton manufacturing facilities; problem solving, failure analysis, risk management, and writing technical reports and specifications. Non-Technical: Build relationships with technical personnel at customers. Manage effective relationships with manufacturing and suppliers to resolve production problems or pursue cost save opportunities. Minimum: - Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university - 3 years designing and product development experience - Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship Preferred: - Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering - 3 years or more of detailed design experience with Pro/Engineer (Catia is also a plus) with experience in designing components for engine components including casting, machining, ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning Tolerancing, and stack-up analysis. - Engineering experience in powertrain design, validation, and operation with experience in validation regarding performance, durability, and NVH optimization. - Experience in planning and executing all engineering aspects of the APQP process. - Experience with supplier development also preferred. Position Criteria: - Knowledge of complex mechanical systems, including castings machining, bearings, seals, gears, and torsional isolators. - Familiarity with TS16949 or QS-9000 quality systems. - Demonstrated knowledge of the 8D process and applying structured problem solving tools to manage the resolution of complex problems. - Demonstrated planning and organization skills. - Interpersonal and collaborative skills. - Demonstrated verbal and written communications skills.
