Senior Engineer (Supercharger Product)
Eaton Corporation located in Marshall, MI has an opening for a Senior Engineer to support Current Product in our Supercharger Applications Engineering Team. The primary responsibility of this position is to represent Eaton Supercharger Product Engineering internally as well as externally with customers in North America with respect to supporting the production issues relating to superchargers for OEM applications. Specific duties include working with customers to understand specifications, design / functional requirements and communicate those to the appropriate team members; create and release drawings; coordination of prototype hardware and sample builds at the customer; coordination of post-test unit return and analysis; reporting / presenting results of post-test unit analysis; frequent interaction with both suppliers and customers; attend on-site meetings at both customers and suppliers; frequent interaction with Eaton manufacturing facilities; problem solving, failure analysis, risk management, and writing technical reports and specifications. Non-Technical: Build relationships with technical personnel at customers. Manage effective relationships with manufacturing and suppliers to resolve production problems or pursue cost save opportunities. Minimum: - Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university - 3 years Engineering experience in product development - Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship Preferred: - Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering - 3 years or more experience with complex mechanical systems including aluminum castings/machining, bearings, and dynamic seals. - Experience with internal combustion engines is preferred and specifically boosted engines - Experience in planning and executing all engineering aspects of the APQP process as well as familiarity with TS16949 or QS-9000 quality systems. Position Criteria: - Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing proficiency as well as the ability to perform tolerance stack-up calculations. - Demonstrated knowledge of the 8D process and applying structured problem solving tools to manage the resolution of complex problems. - Direct customer contact during production quality issues, production supplier resources and relocations, and production cost save opportunities. - Demonstrated planning and organization skills. - Interpersonal and collaborative skills. - Demonstrated verbal and written communications skills.
