SENIOR EQUIPMENT ENGINEERING PROJECT MANAGER (RAIL)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Approves submittals, proposals and other documents from contractors and vendors and advises on changes to ensure that any government or industry regulations/standards as well as NJ TRANSIT's operational and maintenance requirements are satisfied.
2. Develops specifications and contract documents pertaining to complex equipment programs to ensure that NJ TRANSIT's planned operational and maintenance requirements and goals are satisfied.
3. Interprets and analyzes data pertaining to complex equipment designs or changes to existing designs and recommends changes.
4. Prepares reports, and analyzes project status according to both established reporting requirements and project milestones, to include monitoring projects to assure timely cost-effective activity and initiating corrective actions as required.
5. Prepares estimates and other data as required on project elements to ensure that required details are analyzed and formulated, and assists management in decision making process.
6. Performs/witnesses tests and inspections on vehicles to prescribed procedures, and takes part in the warranty and reliability programs for new equipment and components, to include taking part in the analysis of failures with appropriate mechanical representatives and/or vendor representatives.
SKILLS RREQUIRED:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related area, or equivalent, and a minimum of four (4) years of progressive responsible experience in maintenance, repair and/or design of Rail passenger equipment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in MS Office applications required. Must be able to work in a self-directed manner, effectively interact in project teams, and complete assignments and deliverables in a timely and accurate fashion. Experience managing vendor contracts and the ability to review and assess vendor qualifications is desired.
