Senior Equities Market Risk Manager recruitment
Identify all material risks in the relevant businesses, ensuring that they are communicated, reported and escalated as appropriate:
• Analyse the portfolio to identify, measure and monitor key risks.
• Report on the risk positions.
• Be aware of product developments, material risk positions, market moves, illiquidity issues and events that may be averse to the business line covered.
• Propose market risk limits and limit types and, where necessary, for individual books or products types.
• Initiate appropriate risk mitigating measures and limits where required.
• Provide approval on complex transactions. Support other members of the team in this task.
• Manage introduction of new products and processes for market risk.
• Initiate and support methods and policy development, ensuring they are properly implemented.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with front-office business partners. Conduct discussions with front-office, to be aware of all initiatives and trading strategy developments.
• Build good relationships with other market risk teams and other support groups within the bank.
Requirements
• Must have previous front office/trading experience.
• Must have a strong understanding and first-hand experience of the business/front office. They must have the ability to apply their front office knowledge, experience and background to their Market Risk function and be able to challenge Front Office with regards to strategies and new product initiatives.
• Proven track record in equity derivatives. Previous exposure to complex products and transactions.
• Good understanding of equity derivatives models and pricing.
• IT skills an advantage.
• Strong academic background in mathematics or sciences.
• Good communication skills (strong interaction with front-office and senior management)
• Strong team player.
• Ability to work independently on assigned projects and manage all aspects concerning market risk.
• Ability to adapt to changes in business needs and market conditions.
• A strong understanding of the business – NOT someone who just issues reports.
