SENIOR ESTIMATOR

 

Our client is an established general contracting and construction management company with multiple offices in Canada. The company works for both private and public sector clients and has extensive experience successfully delivering industrial, commercial and institutional projects. To support the companys continued growth, our client seeks an experienced Senior Estimator with extensive Pre-Construction experience to join their BC team. This is an opportunity to work as part of a highly professional team on prominent and challenging projects. 

 

The Role:

Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Company seeks a Senior Estimator to join their team in Greater Vancouver to assume responsibility for the cost management of large ICI jobs from pre-construction through to completion.  Specifically, the Senior Estimator will:

 

 

The Candidate:

Applicants for this role must have a post-secondary education in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or another closely related discipline from a recognized college or university.  The individual must also have a minimum of ten years experience working as a Senior Estimator on a wide variety of building structures and civil works as well as a strong working knowledge of all procurement methods including General Contracting, Lump Sum, Construction Management, P3 and Design-Build for projects with a value of at least $40 million+.  Expertise with all construction types, specifically concrete, wood-frame, steel, pre-cast and tilt-up is required, as well as a complete understanding of all estimating methods.  The individual will require a sound working knowledge of quantity surveying techniques and a thorough understanding of the 16 construction packages, as well as direct cost management experience from pre-construction through to sub-trade scope-of-work packages.  A working knowledge of MS Office programs as well as Primavera, MC2 or On-Screen Take-Off is also required.

 

The individual chosen for this role will have strong managerial and leadership skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.  Excellent interpersonal skills and a sincere interest in creating positive relationships with colleagues, clients, sub-trades and suppliers is beneficial.  Also required is an ability to focus on detail and a commitment to accuracy in his/her work.  The individual will have excellent time-management and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment as well as unwavering personal ethics, a positive attitude and a drive for success in his/her career.

 

Experience working on at least one recent P3 project or major work in excess of $100 million would be a distinct advantage. At least three years of recent employment within the local BC market would also be beneficial.
