SUMMARY
This role will provide expertise in the areas of integrated economic evaluations to support projects in the capture, maturation and appraisal phases of worldwide Exploration. This role is open to candidates with non-technical degrees provided they have significant experience assessing and developing upstream/reservoir economic evaluations and models.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Modify or build appropriate economic models, incorporating all corporate policies and fiscal protocols for the asset life cycle under evaluation.
- Ensure that the geological and commercial risks, engineering and commercial assumptions used in the economic model are reasonable and fit for purpose.
- Engage and manage functional support for all required internal resources (Marketing, Legal, Tax, Land and Upstream Agreement)
- Prepare the evaluation in a way that is consistent with PEE evaluation standards to ensure that all projects are measured on an equal basis.
- Analyze the results to help capture optimization benefits. Coordinate with all disciplines to ensure that model inputs are consistent with the chosen development options.
- Present evaluation results in a clear and concise manner to convey the key valuation drivers.
- Participate as required in the corporate planning cycles, typically providing portfolio valuations for Exploration
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is required
- Advanced degree in Economics or an MBA would be desirable
- A degree in Finance with experience in upstream Petroleum economics will also be considered
- 10+ years experience in the petroleum industry
- 3+ years experience preparing international economic evaluations
- Solid, demonstrated technical capabilities in probabilistic economic modeling and expert level skills in Excel spreadsheet programming.
- Demonstrated ability to convert international fiscal term documents into accurate and auditable economic models.
- Team player with strong personal drive, able to lead small multi-discipline evaluation teams to deliver high quality and fit for purpose evaluations.
