Senior External Affairs Manager

Position Description:
Minnesota Energy Resources, a subsidiary of Integrys Energy Group, is currently recruiting for a Senior External Affairs Manager for our office in Rosemount, MN. This position reports to the General Manager - Operations Engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with local government, development corporations, chamber of commerce, and similar organizations/agencies to assist in preparing communities in attracting new investments into the communities served, as well as the renewal of Franchise Agreements. Represent Minnesota Energy Resources (MERC) at city council meetings, civic events, etc. Coordinate employee volunteer programs within the communities served.
- Work with existing businesses, builders, developers, local communities, corporations and customers to promote and support Conservation Improvement Programs (CIP) and ensure the existing business served by MERC remain viable and expand within our service territory. Responsible for customer service support for key accounts across MERC territory.
- Strengthen our relationship with builder/developers and community leaders in competitive markets. Work with builder/developers and customers to present feasibility analysis for main extensions, collect contributions, and quote tariff prices. Work with staff and field employees to provide information to new and expanding companies on natural gas availability, rates, bill comparisons and costs to provide service to individual companies.
- Provide leadership and direction to External Relations employees. Designate company sponsorships and contribution budgets. Coordinate with corporate partners on RP1162 Public Awareness Plan, CIP program, economic development, CH4 programs and community relations initiatives.
Position Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Economics, or related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience with business development.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience with customer service.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience with community relations, customer contact and/or political influence.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience using sales and negotiation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading employees in a supervisory capacity is preferred.
