Senior Finance IT Business Partner/ Project Accountant recruitment

The team’s responsibilities include: performing all project accounting processes during month-end to ensure accurate allocation of costs to projects; producing all financial MI regarding project expenditure; ensuring appropriate financial accounting treatment is followed with regards to project capitalisation and treatment of integration / restructuring costs; defining financial policy and process to ensure projects are tracked consistently with accounting standards; providing financial expertise and support to the Head of Investment/Integration, Programme Managers and the Programme Office; maintaining database structures and performing all month-end processes to capture and report the benefits associated with the above programmes; providing the interface between the above programmes and other Finance teams including Decision Support for the Board, Group Projects and Finance MI.

Role Responsibilities

• Run the annual budget cycle, the monthly forecasting process and co-ordinating the production and reporting of the monthly investment financials to senior management and key stakeholders.  .

• Delivering month end flash for Investment;

• Applying narrative to the financials and ‘telling the story’ of the month on month and YTD vs Budget movements in the II PL

• Sourcing, consolidating analysing project data from various systems

• Understanding and driving forward process improvements within the immediate team. Strategising and co-ordinating the annual budget cycle

• Representing the Investment community at the allocations challenge meetings with the Front office business.

Essential Experience

Fully Qualified Accountant

• The role requires significant interaction with the senior members of the Investment Programme Office cost centre / business managers as well as a high level of technical knowledge in Excel and familiarity with financial systems.

• The candidate will be a strong communicator with leadership qualities, a self starter with solid technical knowledge and preferably experience in an investment banking support area. They must be able to present confidently and clearly to senior members across the spectrum of the Investment banking business and be able to be flexible to changing environments against a backdrop of challenging timelines.

• Strong technical accounting knowledge and ability to explain clearly to non-accountants (including IAS38)

• Strong data modelling and analytical skills with ability to identify and extract relevant information

• Advanced Excel (up to, but not including, VB)

• Ability to influence and build effective relationships with a broad range of finance and non-finance customers

• Ability to deliver a high quality, relevant end product to tight timescales, achieved through working effectively within a matrix organisation

• Ability to see the bigger picture

• Ability to influence team members to produce effective results and achieve combined targets

• Project accounting experience within the Financial Services sector

• Extensive experience of monthly reporting within the Financial Services sector

• Financial Services product knowledge

• Ability to work efficiently as part of a team and under pressure to tight deadlines

• Pro-active approach, driven and self motivated with good attention to detail

• Ability to deal credibly with all stakeholders including senior management to board level
