Commercial Markets Finance is actively searching for a Senior Financial Analyst to join the Credit team. This position analyzes financial statements, operational and industry performance data as well as trends of renewing and prospective policyholders and prepares credit reviews. The role requires active communication with stakeholders including underwriters, distribution managers, and external company representatives, including senior managers.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews and analyzes financial statements for private and publicly owned companies
- Examines operational and industry performance data, as well as trends of renewing and prospective policyholders
- Understands and interprets financial statements prepared in accordance with GAAP, or IFRS, as well as disclosures required by the SEC
- Understands the impact that various organizational, investment, debt and tax structures have on the creditworthiness of subject companies
- Regularly accesses and appropriately utilizes a variety of informational resources to identify and understand industry trends and gauge subject company's performance relative to industry and peer group trends
- Understands insurance products offered to Commercial Market customers, including the accounting treatment and cash flow patterns of these products and their related credit risk
- Assigns a Credit rating to subject companies based on the Credit policy and supports the rating in a concise and articulate credit review that addresses the subject company's data, delinquency, solvency, and industry risk
- Prepares credit reviews that identify pertinent information and specific recommendations regarding payment and collateral terms that consider the credit risk associated with insurance plans that are likely to be quoted
- Actively communicates with internal and external stakeholders including underwriters, distribution managers, agents, and brokers and subject company representatives including senior managers
- Handles special projects of moderate complexity
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (Finance or Accounting preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years of financially related experience
- Solid understanding of financial accounting, accounting standards, economics and finance required
- Demonstrated decision-making abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational, and negotiation skills
