Senior Financial Analyst (US and French GAAP) Job in Waterloo, Ontario Canada

General Description

As an active team member of the Global Finance team, working in partnership with all areas of Finance and with the business, the Senior Financial Analyst will report to and work closely with the Assistant Financial Controller. The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting activities as well as regional requirements mainly for the legal entities in France. The Senior Financial Analyst ensures the accuracy and completeness of the monthly country financial statements, legal entity US GAAP and management reporting, in addition to be responsible for statutory financial functions.

Primary Duties

• Support the preparation of legal entity financial statements based on US GAAP
o Perform analytical review of period end financial for assigned entities.
o Ensures the financial reporting is accurate from a performance management (ie: cost center) perspective
o Liaison with shared services managers (GLSS, AR, AP, Order Entry, Payroll) to recommend transactional processing changes for improved internal and external reporting.
o Responsible for responding to FPA/Business Finance entity financial reporting queries
o Coordinate accounting entries related to legal entity reorganization and other corporate activities

• Prepare local GAAP/French GAAP financial statements and manage statutory audit requirements
o Identify accounting entries required to convert financial statements from US GAAP to local GAAP
o Partner with the GLSS to record entries either as an ongoing adjustments or as a year-end adjustment
o Identify accounting gaps and make recommendations
o Manage implementation of any changes to local GAAP accounting regulations
o Manage the audit planning activities and coordination of local audit activities
o Prepare working schedules for external auditors
o Prepare statutory financial statement checklist and associated documents
o Assist with changes to legal entity status
o Maintain and support the process to meet local requirements for physical location of books and records

• Assist the tax group
o Provide support material for tax compliance requirements
o Assist tax department by providing financial information for federal income compliance filing and installment payments.
o Prepare period end tax kits / MRPs
o Assist with commodity and income tax audits

• Assist for entity system migrations
o Review project plan
o Manage GL migrations
o Participates in migration meetings and conference calls as required
o Review and assist with signoff for migration entries

• Provides support for new acquisitions
o Participates in post acquisition integration activities

• Provides local support to the business as required
o Assists the business in addressing finance matters
o Provides general support and information to the business as requested
o Provide adhoc reporting and analysis as required by the Financial Controller and others as needed.

• Conduct research and provide technical accounting guidance where required
o Legal entity accounting for mergers, reorganizations and dissolutions – business combinations

• Manage special projects as required

Skills and Knowledge
• 5 – 8 years years finance experience in a technology environment including supervisory, month end close and analysis experience.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and French GAAP.
• Big 4 experience preferred
• IFRS and other local country GAAP knowledge is an asset.
• Complete understanding of French accounting principals
• Experience must include GAAP to STAT reconciliations
• Experience researching and resolving complex issues
• Excellent written and verbal English and French language skills are required.
• Proven ability to perform under tight timelines in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail oriented, organized and strong analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; capable of communicating in professional and courteous manner with peers, customers, vendors and management.
• Proficient in MS Office applications along with hands on experience in Great Plains, SAP, Cognos Finance and Cognos Powerplay
• Ability to work independently, multi-tasking to establish priorities, and completing objectives with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
