Position Description
Senior Financial Analyst/Senior Accountant
This position:
- Will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of the corporate budgeting process, including annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, reviewing reconciling actuals to forecasts reporting relevant financial information metrics to the business owners in order to drive better business decisions to help track the business.
- The right candidate is a self-motivated, detail-oriented individual with exceptional quantitative skills who enjoys a combination of developing and implementing comprehensive analytical Excel COGNOS Planning-based budget models interacting with different functional groups within the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with departmental and business unit managers to develop and manage annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
- Track monthly and quarterly results to budget and work consistently with business owners to identify potential areas for cost containment, forecast process improvement or reporting enhancements.
- Assist with/lead implementation of COGNOS Planning software to include model building/modification and administrative set-up.
- Work with business owners to develop cohesive models and methods for data transfer from current Excel models into the new software.
- Assist with training business owners to ensure software is fully adopted.
- Support Finance and Accounting team during month end close through extracting, analyzing and reporting data out of various databases in order expedite and improve the month-end close process, as well as reconcile database outputs to reported financials in order to inform improvements to the forecast.
- Work collaboratively with the IT business intelligence group to enhance and automate reporting as needed.
- Explore ways to use the COGNOS BI reporting suite to improve reporting of actual to forecast variances using Great Plains data and COGNOS Planning data.
- Provide financial support to the supply chain organization and business unit owners for all brands, focusing on the forecast of cost of sales components (product costs, freight, distribution center expenses) and subsequent reconciliation of actuals to forecast, performing variance analysis and determining key drivers of differences.
- Use knowledge to enhance business unit, channel and product margin reporting.
- Work with marketing managers and Director of Business Forecasting to assist with marketing channel forecasting and reporting.
- Support supervisor and business owners as required on special projects and analyses.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree required. Advanced degree preferred (CPA or MBA)
4-10 years experience budgeting, forecasting and modeling, using Excel and budgeting software tools.
Accounting experience or knowledge highly desirable.
High level of proficiency in Excel required.
