The Senior Financial Consultant occupies a key role within MD Physician Services. As part of the Member Experience team, the Senior FC is responsible to assists Canadian Medical Association CMA) members and their families in achieving their personal financial goals. Working as a partner with MD’s Specialist Advisors, the Senior FC will leverage years of experience specifically for preparing comprehensive financial plans and specific investment strategies.
The Senior Financial Consultant is also accountable to retain and grow market share in the community in which they operate. They will develop new opportunities to prospect and grow the client base, while ensuring retention of clients through relationship building and developing comprehensive financial plans. The CMA member must have the opportunity to take advantage of every MD Physician Services Inc. (MD PSI) product and service necessary, allowing them to work toward and achieve their financial goals.
The Senior Financial Consultant will ultimately be responsible for:
- Preparing comprehensive financial plans and specific investment strategies based on MD Management developed and managed optimal portfolio ranges.
- Facilitating a team approach in all areas of financial planning, actively referring clients to MD Private Investment Counsel (discretionary management), MD Private Trust (estate and executor services), MD Insurance, MD Banking Products (National Bank Financial) and the Physician Services Group (healthcare software, practice consulting, cma.ca).
- Based on the MD Physician Services Inc. (MD PSI) client service model, provide the appropriate level of service and advice to CMA members and their families on all aspects of investments and financial planning.
- Using MD’s internal software complete financial planning in the areas of risk management, estate planning, liability management, cashflow/budgeting, education funding, tax, retirement planning, investment management, practice management and goal setting.
- Actively participate in prospecting; offering every CMA member the opportunity to invest with MD PSI and help them meet their financial goals. Increase visibility of MD PSI products and services through contact with centres of influence.
- Understand and comply with all industry regulations. Ensure accurate administration of all client transactions and compliance requirements, minimizing risk and expense to the company.
- Conduct seminars and information meetings throughout the region to inform clients about new strategies, legislative changes and MD Management's programs.
- Keep up to date on issues affecting the financial affairs of MD PSI clients, including a general knowledge of income tax, investment trends and products, as well as any other issues having an impact on CMA members.
- In cooperation with the Marketing team, implement MD PSI marketing strategies; provide advice and information to members concerning the company's investment programs and related services based on established regional targets.
- Travel within established travel circuit.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of experience providing Financial Planning advice to high net worth clients.
- Hold a University degree in business, commerce or a degree related to practice of financial planning.
- Completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and hold a Certified Financial Planner designation.
- Completion of the Conduct Practices Handbook for Securities Industry Professional (CPH) and the Life License and subsequent regulatory requirements.
- Thorough knowledge of advanced financial planning concepts and products.
- A demonstrated track record of above average sales in a financial or related environment.
