This is a Senior Management role reporting to the Head of DQSS to provide core Operational and Accounting control and support to key elements of the core Santander UK systems for Santander UK, cahoot and Corporate.
As Senior Financial Operational Controls Manager you will be accountable for two main areas:-
Management and development of the Daily Operational Financial Controls for Banking, Savings, Loans and Mortgage accounts and products in the core Santander UK platforms.
Production and development of Management Information for Account and Customer Data to support controls and strategic/operational decision making.
You will be responsible for managing, supporting, coaching and developing a team of 18 managers and support staff who will be responsible for:-
Managing and developing the DQSS control model for Santander UK, Santander Corporate and cahoot
Ensuring the integrity of the Operational Settlements (Interest Payment and Calculation) for Loans, Banking and Savings Products, grasping the complexity and often unique characteristics of each settlement item and product
Developing, producing and maintaining MI for Accounts and Customer data for use to control and improve data quality in each of the entities in the UK
Managing and delivering on the Dormant Accounts policy and daily controls, and coordinating the participation in the Unclaimed Assets scheme
Driving DQSS involvement in system changes and improvements through design, implementation, testing, and new product development
Managing incidents related to Settlement processes and Customer data, end to end, across the business, ensuring that they are resolved within agreed SLA's to maintain high performance standards
Taking responsibility for Operational Accounting, and SOX Controls in respect of Customer Data, Account Asset and Liability Positions, and Interest Calculation processes
Reviewing, improving and managing the existing processes to support the integrity of data held within the banking system by focussing on the accounting positions that control the balances within core operational systems
Representing DQSS at Senior Stakeholder forums focussing on Customer Service Quality, and Daily Incident Management/Resolution
Working with the DQSS integration teams to smoothly transition newly integrated accounts into existing or newly created controls without customer impact
Driving, managing and embedding quality across the business, building a culture of continuous improvement that values quality improvement, effort and initiative
Translating strategies into team specific goals, objectives and responsibilities
As Senior Financial Operational Controls Manager your skills and experience will include:-
Qualified Accountant, or equivalent, with a strong financial background
Experience of Accounting controls, reconciliations, MI reporting and risk management
Experience in control model definition and implementation
Strong and well practiced skills in analysing, reporting and reconciling large amounts of data
Experience of a similar, large multi national environment, ideally within Financial Services
Knowledge of core banking products with particular reference to Savings, Bond, Banking and Loan products and related controls, risks and regulations
Strong people management skills having managed a large, diverse team of people
Experience in the delivery of process improvements, policies and business change
Proven ability to keep the team focussed on efforts that add significant value.
A disciplined and structured attitude to work that delivers multiple solutions and balances conflicting timescales, with a 'can do' / positive attitude and approach
Confident communicator with the ability to cope with a fast paced environment where excellent interpersonal skills are a must. Able to work across cultural boundaries to deal effectively with all levels of staff and build good relations with internal and external departments
Advanced knowledge Excel, Access, Word, and Powerpoint and a high level of general computer literacy
