Senior FPA Accountant

We are currently looking for a Senior FPA Accountant to join our finance team based in Bexhill.
This is a new team with new responsibilities; primary amongst these is the requirement to design a new Budgeting model that is fast and flexible.
This is likely to need the implementation of an external, controlled IT solution for which this role will be responsible in tandem with our systems accountant. The company is fast growing and data hungry and this requires an ability to be mentally flexible while maintaining a methodical approach.
As it would be a team of two initially, there will be maximum exposure to all levels of the business. This will therefore need a confident, personable candidate with the skills to listen, interpret and develop models that suit the business needs.
Hastings Direct is working towards an IPO in the next two years, so these are exciting and challenging times where increased levels of professionalism and control are key. As already identified, this will need a flexible nature and mind as there will be multiple scenarios requested from multiple customers delivered in a controlled and accurate manner. Hastings Direct is focused on developing its' talent and supports training with a keenness to develop careers internally and is looking to get the right people into the business to support the aim of providing insurance to 1 in 10 consumers by 2020.
As a Senior FPA Accountant your responsibilities will include:
- Owning the budgeting process, refining models and liaising with the business at all levels
- Implementing a budgeting tool
- As part of the IPO preparing multiple scenarios and sensitivities within a contract framework
- Managing and carrying out project work
As a Senior FPA Accountant your experience will ideally include:
- Preferably part qualified accountant (ACA/ CIMA/ ACCA) level of equivalent
- Advanced MS Excel skills to include modelling, V-Lookups and pivot tables
- Experience within insurance would be beneficial but is not essential
- Experience of a relational database system such as MS SQL or MS Access is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to thrive in a fast paced environment
