Posted Position Title: Senior Global Commodity Leader Forgings Career Level: Experienced Function Sourcing Function Segment: Sourcing Location: United States U.S. State, China or Canada Provinces: Pennsylvania City: Lawrence Park Postal Code: 16531-0001 Relocation Assistance No Role Summary/Purpose: The Senior Global Commodity Leader will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy. Essential Responsibilities - Develop practical and innovative ways to identify and meet goals - Responsible for work that is less defined in scope and has the understanding and experience to execute business objectives - Understand the market, and develop fact-based sourcing strategies for the Bearing commodity - Lead the procurement of a $60MM Forgings for OHV and Locomotive commodity spend to achieve variable cost productivity, cash flow, and controllership goals - Lead supplier selection, qualification, development, and overall supplier management, including managing the entire contract life cycle from Request for Proposal to supplier exit - Drive the best global supply of forgings, including identifying opportunities, utilizing cross-functional resources to implement projects - Evaluate current and anticipated requirements, determine potential sources, stimulate competition and perform continual market analysis in monitoring supplier progress - Participate in team activities on a strategic level in finding global opportunities, qualifying new sources, creating strategic supplier relationships, improving sourcing processes, and driving integration across different business units and across other functions - Balance strategy development with the tactical execution necessary to execute cost reduction projects through contract negotiation, process changes, and implementation of sustainable cost controls, including collaboration with Finance to validate the impact of projects and contract negotiations to the general ledger - Develop technical and market expertise in the forgings commodity - Create and enforce business policies to meet business targets and customer needs, including improving procurement processes and optimizing Sourcing resources to enhance the customer experience with Sourcing - Closely monitor supplier performance to plan and work with the suppliers to manage any required recovery plans / actions - Coordinate with factories to ensure forgings suppliers meet any and all demand requirements - Drive Engineering / Manufacturing / Sales in order to ensure sourcing is given adequate cycle to procure material - Solicit and evaluate proposals employing appropriate negotiation, cost and price analysis techniques, together with effective utilization of available expertise from supporting organizations Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelors Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college - Minimum of 3 additional years of leadership experience in Sourcing and Supplier Development - Minimum of 2 years of experience in supplier selection and qualification of new components - Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing suppliers with global manufacturing locations - Six Sigma Green Belt (GE employees only) Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening.
