Posted Position Title: Senior Global Commodity Leader Career Level: Experienced Function Sourcing Function Segment: Sourcing Location: United States U.S. State, China or Canada Provinces: Pennsylvania City: Lawrence Park Postal Code: 16531-0001 Relocation Assistance No Role Summary/Purpose: The Senior Global Commodity Leader will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy. Essential Responsibilities - Lead the global commodity procurement to achieve variable cost productivity, cash flow, and controllership goals - Lead the global supplier selection, qualification, development, and overall supplier management, including managing the entire contract life cycle from Request for Proposal to supplier exit - Balance strategy development with the tactical execution necessary to execute cost reduction projects through contract negotiation, process changes, and implementation of sustainable cost controls, including collaboration with Finance to validate the impact of projects and contract negotiations to the general ledger - Develop technical and market expertise in global commodity area - Create and enforce business policies to meet business targets and customer needs, including improving procurement processes and optimizing Sourcing resources to enhance the customer experience with Sourcing - Team with engineering teams to identify and implement direct material productivity ideas to minimize total cost - Monitor, forecast and develop strategies for pertinent steel commodities to minimize raw material costs and ensure material availability - Work closely with engineering, sourcing site commodity leaders and sourcing quality engineers to ensure fulfillment and quality requirements are achieved - Team with logistics and commercial teams to ensure adequate regional capacities exist to minimize transportation costs and meet localization requirements - Identify and assess supplier capabilities; measure and manage supplier performance - Develop suppliers, analysis, and off shore supply - Negotiate lowest possible cost while maintaining the highest quality of goods and services - Interface with other GE business sourcing teams and participate in company wide strategic sourcing initiatives Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelors Degree from an accredited university or college - At least 5 additional years of experience Sourcing experience - At least 3 years of global Sourcing experience ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS; - Willingness and ability to travel as required Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Desired Characteristics - Bachelors Degree in Finance, Business or Engineering is preferred - Experience and industry knowledge with forgings / castings / machined parts markets - Masters Degree in Business Administration is preferred - Prior sourcing experience in negotiating, identifying opportunities, selecting suppliers, sourcing strategy, and implementing contracts - Strong quantitative and data analysis skills - Strong project management and process improvement skills - Change agent with ability to influence at all levels of the organization - Process leadership experience such as CAP, Work-Out, process improvement, or quality is preferred (Internal GE employees only) - CPM or APICS certification is preferred - Oracle Purchasing system experience is preferred - Six Sigma training is preferred - Strong oral and written communication skills - Strong interpersonal and leadership skills Why join one great company when you can join many?
