Position Description:
As applications become larger and more complex, each piece of code becomes increasingly difficult to find and often custom built. Scattered and inconsistent logic increases time needed to debug and requires experienced developers to fix any problems, leading to escalating maintenance costs. A further problem is higher project costs, not just from lack of reusable business rules but also through unnecessary repetition of work.
The EDG Business Rules Initiative aims to address this issue by extracting and articulating these business rules and then implementing the rule in application code for execution by a business rule engine. The vision is to have a fully integrated business rule framework, which holds consistent, reusable rules that drive application logic and provides visibility into business processing.
This role will expose the candidate to business rule construction and involves understanding and interfacing with the business rule repository and rule engine technologies. The candidate will be responsible for exposing the rule groupings and statements for view and search by the user. Advanced features are required, such as a workflow interface to migrate business logic from development to production, as well as rule create, edit and bulk upload functionality.
The successful candidate will have experience working with web UI frameworks, preferably with ExtJS. The candidate should be able to understand business rule formation as well as the associated workflow to migrate rule meta data from development into production. They must be able to work collaboratively with senior developers and take the initiative to solve problems and deliver required functionality.
Skills Required:
• Experience with web based technologies and protocols (HTML, ExtJS JavaScript, XML, XSLT, SOAP)
• Experience with designing a large-scale, real-time, business critical systems
• Experience with Tomcat and Apache
• Awareness of Json, cxf, dozer
• Solid system architecture skills (especially 3/N-Tier applications)
• Experience in Database design and database programming (Sybase / DB2 ideally)
• Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and work with them to meet business requirements
• Strong team working ability in local and global teams
Skills Desired:
• Object Oriented design and Java development experience (JAVA, JSP)
• Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring and Hibernate
• Awareness JBoss Drools and Business Rule Management
• Knowledge and recognition of basic design patterns
