Job Description:
The Micro Embedded Hardware Engineer will develop very small form factor hardware products and platforms. They will work closely with in house engineering teams (ME, SW) to develop complete solutions. They will then work with partner companies and project managers to bring the products to production. They develop original designs and monitor the work of our partners. They are responsible for delivery of the hardware portion of the product and will coordinate with a cross functional global team.
- Develop very small scale, power efficient, very low power electronic hardware.
- Integrate low power sensors into designs
- Make product cost and architecture trade-offs working with Product Manager and operations teams.
- Author detailed Hardware Product Requirements Documents and specifications to enable efficient product development.
- Review all product validation plans and test plans authored by partner and internal validation groups
- Responsible for schematic capture, component choices, and PCB layout floor planning.
- Some travel (20% international and domestic) may be required
- Review all product validation reports and test reports generated while testing the product.
- Work with compliance team to understand compliance testing needed for product launch into worldwide locations.
- Perform board level bring up
- Aggressively drive PCB layout designers to smallest possible size
- Component selection and qualification with overseas partners
- The applicant should be familiar with the design of portable low power products. Experience of a consumer electronics environment dealing with high volume and high quality products is an advantage, as is dealing with problems such as RF-induced noise.
- Duties include subsystem design reviews, prototyping, schematic reviews, prototype bring up and debugging, hardware testing, generation of hardware bugs, working with cross-functional teams on debug/analysis/prove-out and also some manufacturing test support.
