Job Description:
Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Electrical Hardware Design Engineer opening to join our Engineering and Technology organization.
Day to Day (what a typical day or week look like in this role)
Today, you might be developing a user interface or appliance controller schematic. Tomorrow, you'll be manipulating the design with electrical simulation techniques. And, you might verifying the electromagnetic performance of another product in our on-site EMC chamber. You may also be leading a circuit board layout with our ECAD engineers. No two days are the same.
What You Will Do
- Design cross-functional, mixed signal, electrical controller, and user interface circuit board solutions
- Verify design performance with electrical simulation techniques
- Verify design performance with bench and environmental test methods
- Ensure electrical designs are manufacturable to a high quality level
- Provide deep electronics expertise to other development partners
- Lead execution of electrical designs that meet requirements, on time, at cost, and quality targets
- Provide technical input for technology, strategy, and continuous improvement efforts
- Continuously provide innovative thinking that fosters and improved execution and design robustness
- Document designs to ensure they can be built, tested in a repeatable controlled manner
- Identify, analyze and solve technical problems.
Requirements:
What You Need To Succeed
• B.S. in Electrical Engineering (MS preferred)
• Minimum of 6 years of electronics hardware development experience
• Experience with analog and digital design
• Experience and ability to utilize electrical simulation and bench verification techniques
• Ability to develop electronic circuits, knowing the advantages, limitations and costs of various electronic design approaches
• Strong understanding of design for test and manufacturing
• Strong understanding of electronic development design process and controls
• Outstanding people skills, with the specific ability to interact as a lead player
• Dynamic self-starter with admirable management skills
• Strong decision making skills
• In-depth computer skills related to specific needs of position
• Clear vision to observe action of products/processes and use of computer/communication system
• Ability to travel and meet with other Whirlpool or supplier operations
