Summary
SunPower Corporation, a leader in the solar industry and provider of the world’s highest efficiency solar panels and solar system is looking for his System Business Unit (the contracting BU) for a Safety Manager for his market Europe, Middle East Africa (EMEA).
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Health, Safety and Environment Manager to join our team and work primarily in our projects currently developing in Spain, France, Greece, Germany and in Italy.
The incumbent will be based in the SPWR offices of Frankfurt or Madrid and will lead within the Operations a support function to the Project Managers and the Site Managers / Construction Managers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities are as follows (other duties may be assigned)
- Participate in pre-job hazard analysis to prepare for construction
- Be familiar with Health Safety International Standards and Countries regulations.
- Perform Construction site audits and provide recommendations for hazard abatement.
- Lead and coordinate SunPower Safety Business Group and run quarterly meeting.
- Provide reports on safety and health performance to management.
- Administer safety training program.
- Develop site/project specific safety plans.
- Maintain/distribute OSHA 300 log.
- Meet with customers to communicate Safety objectives.
- Administer our Injury Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and make/publish any changes.
- Provide weekly safety meeting handouts for field staff.
- Conduct accident investigations and reporting.
- Participate in claims management with SunPower.
- Be contact person for interactions with Insurance provider.
- Develop pre-job safety qualification packages for customers.
Qualifications, Education and Experience
- Be a resource for expert direction/knowledge on safety issues for SunPower staff and management
- Willingness to travel to job sites (up to 75%).
- Experience, Education and Industry Qualifications
- 5-7 years experience in Commercial/Industrial Construction working in a Safety Management capacity.
- Required trades experience: Electrical, Structural Steel, Concrete, Earthwork, Environmental.
- University Degree in Engineering or in Physics, Chemistry or equivalent is highly preferred.
- Required Certifications: OSHA 1926 30-hour, First Aid/CPR. OSHA 500 Trainer certification preferred.
- Strong computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite. Oracle ERP skills/experience highly desirable.
- Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing in English and in other EU languages, German, Italian or Spanish preferably.
