Senior High Yield Analyst
Overview
- Desk analyst for Portfolio Managers covering varied corporate sectors, ideally in HY and IG with European and particularly US Corporate Credit as the underlying asset.
- Investments include long/short CDS, liquid bonds, and indices of Investment Grade, and some Crossover issuers
- Desired sector focus to include telecom and media (priority) as well as building materials and consumer goods (secondary)
- Support Portfolio Managers with comprehensive profitable trade idea generation and single name credit research for a range of Portfolio and Fund structures – e.g. market value sensitive actively managed open and closed end funds/managed accounts invested in single name corporate credit and synthetic indices
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and succeed in a flat, unstructured environment
Core Responsibilities
- Proactively identify profitable long/short trade ideas in multiple sectors including but not limited to ideas built upon security relative value, and event driven positioning in line with Portfolio strategies– predominately in HY and IG corporate arena
- Construct and communicate coherent investment arguments – supported by requisite fundamental and market analytics, issuer and sector macro and micro insights
- Develop analytical screening tools, fundamental models, relationships with internal external analysts, traders, and other market participants to maximize quality, quantity, and PL impact of trade ideas generated
Skills/Competencies
- Minimum [8] years of experience predominately working in buy-side Credit Research ideally on actively managed, market value sensitive funds
- Persuasive, confident communication skills; strong analytical competencies
- Demonstrable deep understanding of Corporate Credit instruments, issuers, risks, markets and relative value frameworks
- Solid academic background with a strong ability to assimilate and communicate complex concepts and ideas quickly and effectively
- Understanding of the dynamics of Credit Research and Portfolio Management, gained either through experience or academic study (Post graduate or CFA)
- Advanced IT literacy with a particular focus on Excel, Bloomberg
