Senior HPC Specialist Job in St Albans AL2 2DQ, Home Counties UK

 

Viglen is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior HPC Specialist.   Candidates must live within easy commuting distance of our offices in St Albans, Hertfordshire.

 

 

Summary :

 

The main purpose of this role is to assist in the development of Viglen’s HPC position, by engaging with customers and architecting appropriate HPC systems as per requirement.  This is an all–encompassing role, which will require hands-on configuring HPC software on Viglen HPC clusters according to customer specifications.  Candidates must be flexible in their approach to work.

 

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3 years experience within the HPC sector or at least very strong linux skills with a proven track record of maintaining a large number of servers. Experience within a pre-sales environment would be an advantage.  The successful candidate will be working with leading edge technology.  This is an excellent opportunity to join a rapidly expanding HPC team.

 

 

Key responsibilities:

 

·         Bechmark HPC applications

·         Provide HPC technical consultancy to Viglen sales, bids  and marketing departments

·         Maintain in-house cluster

·         Provide assistance to in the configuration of clusters for end users

·         Visit customer sites, may involve presentations

·         To technically evaluate through proof of concept and benchmarking exercises all relevant ISV and other application codes and system platforms including hardware, operating systems and middleware technologies

·         Develop effective problem resolution procedures

·         Maintain an understanding and awareness of the HPC  space keeping up to date with new products and develoment

·         Maintain relationships with key suppliers

 

Must have:

 

·         Experience in configuring / using HPC clusters

·         Knowledge of Scheduling systems, such as Platform LSF, PBS, Torque / Maui or Sun GridEngine

·         Exposure to Linux Cluster environments such as Platform Cluster Manager, Bright Cluster Manager, Rocks or Oscar

·         Knowledge and understanding of clustered file systems (Lustre/GPFS /Panasas/ DDN) any experience in configuring these files would be highly beneficial

·         Benchmarking HPC applications

 

 

Hours 9:00 – 5:30pm Monday – Thursday and 9:00 – 5:00 Friday
