Senior HPC System Administrator
Specific Job Description Position will be located in Greenbelt, MD. The Lockheed Martin team supporting the NASA Center for Climate Simulation (NCCS) is currently recruiting for a Senior HPC System Administrator. The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining a smooth operation in a large user environment, evaluating new technologies and developing techniques to improve the productivity of the NASA NCCS petascale High Performance Computing environment and their user community. This position is responsible for advanced installation, configuration, and management of Linux operating systems and related toolsets, supporting complex enterprise-level applications, including HPC, and providing technical leadership across the department. The position also provides on-call support on a rotational basis with other team members. The qualified candidate will perform a variety of difficult assignments associated with Linux System administration and HPC systems administration, including monitoring and controlling of Linux installations, HPC deployments, analyzing system faults, troubleshooting issues, and running diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect and resolve problems. Standard Job Description Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocate mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
