Senior HR Specialist

 

Perform duties under general supervision while following established policies and procedures. Supervise and audit the work of HR Specialists on Payroll Benefits to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Provide back-up to HR Specialists and Payroll Benefits Manager when necessary.

 

  1. Processes payroll and compiles payroll data to maintain accurate payroll records.
  2. Performs routine duties of HR specialist which includes updating changes, payroll adjustments and recording sick and vacation requests.
  3. Audits transaction history report on electronic time sheets and verifies against any discrepancies.
  4. Performs call backs on vacation and sick records entered on electronic time sheets and payroll changes. 
  5. Processes exception items and those requiring special handling.
  6. Balances payroll, prepares general ledger entries, audits and adjusts 401K reports and processes other payroll related transactions after each pay period.
  7. Maintains the Ceridian Self Service System.
  8. Prepares report for Affirmative Action Plan, including the compilation of transfer, promotion, termination and new hire data.
  9. Assists payroll specialists to ensure their work is completed accurately and on time.
  10. Organizes all supporting documents after each payroll processing for Payroll Manager to review.
  11. Prepares required on-going, month-end, quarterly, and year-end reports for departmental use.
  12. Audits and reconciles insurance billings and insurance payroll deductions.
  13. Prepares responses to notices from government agencies regarding tax filing.
  14. Reconciles general ledger and payroll suspense accounts monthly.
  15. Audits payroll tax return filed by Ceridian quarterly and yearly.
  16. Prepares data for reporting Vets-100, EEO-1, 401K audit and ESOP Census yearly.
  17. Maintains and follow up with the Workers’ Compensation claims.
  18. Prepares information and copies for the audit of Workers’ compensation Insurance.
  19. Presents Benefit information at New Hire Orientation
  20. Researches and provides information for internal audit purposes upon request.
  21. Identifies process improvement and evaluates departmental efficiency.
  22. Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting Human Resource functions and insures bank policies, procedures, and actions are in compliance.
  23. Assists in creation of desktop procedures.
  24. Coordinates special HR related projects
  25. Implements and evaluates revised policy and procedures.
  26. Performs any and all additional duties as assigned.

  

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·     Skills/Ability:   Proficiency with Ceridian and other Payroll and HR systems, and with MS Word and Excel.  Time management and ability to prioritize. Precision and detail oriented. Ability to perform with minimal supervision. Provide some supervision and general guidance to HR Specialists and other HR administrative staff as needed. Knowledge on federal and state wage tax laws and regulations required. Strong problem resolution skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (bilingual Chinese a plus).  Leadership skills a plus.
