Recently, we have merged with the global leader in enterprise dynamic publishing software solutions, and both companies are committed to growth plans into digital publishing.
We’re looking for a dynamic HTML5 developer to work in our applications team (iPhone / Android / Blackberry / HTML 5) developing compelling HTML5 applications for tablet and mobile devices. In particular this will include developing cutting edge tablet pages as well as mobile browser based versions of existing iOS and Android apps we’ve developed. The successful candidate would initially be working on some high profile applications for major UK and US companies.
Job Specific Keys
As a member of the Development team:
- Function as Senior HTML5 Developer responsible for leading and inspiring a team of engineers in developing cutting edge HTML5 / JavaScript Web Apps
- Provide proven knowledge in advanced HTML / JavaScript / CSS functionality limitations. Clear demonstration of passion in the HTML5 technology space.
- Become a domain expert in our PressRun product pushing the boundary of digital interactivity on tablets
- Work with the sales team to produce mock-ups and prototypes of customer applications
Required Skills
- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Proficient in Object Oriented programming and design patterns
- Experience building large scale HTML5 applications using some of the latest API’s and techniques.
- Solid experience of JavaScript frameworks such as: jQuery, Node.Js, backbone.js, MooTools, Closure Library, Sencha Touch or Ext JS
- Extensive experience of web server development and deployment
- Excellent team leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop other team members
- Working knowledge of best source control practices, preferably using GIT
Exceptional Candidates:
- A good understanding of Agile (We use Scrum here)
- Knowledge of automated testing processes, including TDD / BDD
- Experience in performance analysis of JavaScript, and WebKit Rendering
- Be able to explain ‘closure’ in JavaScript
- The hunger to always try something new, and search for the best solutions to challenging problems
Qualification Criteria
Candidates should only apply if they’re able to answer the following questions:
- How can webkit transitions be used to achieve smooth motion?
- Where is the most efficient place to include a JavaScript library in a page?
- Name two new features of HTML5 and describe their benefits?
- What automated post-processing or optimisations can be done of JavaScript to improve its performance?
- What are the downsides of using JQuery?
