Senior Industrial Engineer Job in Jefferson, Georgia US
The Senior Industrial Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing optimal cost-effective new and/or existing processes within the distribution centers to enhance efficiencies and quality. Responsible for various engineering projects to support work analysis and measurement across the distribution network.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Develop, maintain, and manage a wide variety of projects aimed at improving and managing operations, implementing equipment and systems, developing and improving processes, developing standards and training associates.
· Manage and organize the engineering staff by providing guidance for process improvements in the distribution network.
· Provide support and analysis using sound industrial engineering principles and techniques.
· Design, recommend and implement improvements to logistics, material handling, and information systems to improve operating processes, service levels and efficiency.
· Manage and analyze the work flows and capital resources to recommend the most effective method of meeting customer requirements.
· Assess the techniques, staffing and equipment utilized to determine production rates and capacities.
· Plan and design systems that increase productivity by improving the integration of people, materials and equipment.
· Recommend changes to work methods, safety measures, and labor organization.
· Develop labor standards by analyzing work samples, work flow, methods of production and operator techniques.
· Analyze space and capacity of facilities with current and forecasted volumes to determine utilization rates and recommend any necessary adjustments to footprint.
· Own, design, develop and maintain all distribution labor standards.
· Design, develop, implement and maintain standard operating procedures and training methods for distribution associates.
· Participate proactively in team meetings and work effectively with team members to resolve and achieve goals.
· Comply with all company, safety and OSHA standards and policies.
· Perform additional related tasks as assigned by Systemax Management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and 8+ years of experience in a Distribution Center.
· Experience with packaging automation equipment, high speed conveyor systems and RF Scanners.
· Knowledge of SKU velocity, slotting and network strategy
· Prior Lean Manufacturing experience, a plus
· Six Sigma Green/Black belt certification, a plus
· Prior experience with equipment/system validations, AUTOCAD, and modeling software
· Must be proficient in WMS, EXCEL, WORD, and POWERPOINT
· Effective communications skills.
· Experience with startup operation, a plus
· Exception problem solving skills
