Senior International Accountant recruitment

As Senior International Accountant you will be a key member of my client’s global accounting function with responsibility for producing accurate accounts for my client’s foreign subsidiaries under the relevant local GAAP. You will be responsible for consolidating the input of accounting teams in various geographical locations using multiple ledgers. You will also take part in a variety of different accounting projects involving various stakeholders.

The ideal candidate for this role will work in a similar position for a global multinational corporation. Prior experience in Big 4 is an asset though not essential. You must hold a professional accountancy qualification and have eligibility to work in the EU.

This role involves a number of important responsibilities including:

- Takes overall responsibility for the daily accounting activities and the monthly, quarterly and yearly closing of the US GAAP ledgers for group and statutory purposes;

- Implements and maintains adequate mechanisms and forums for reviews, decision making and escalation with peers, managers and other stakeholders. Takes part in the audit processes;

- Owns the local statutory and accounting processes for the foreign entities, and ensures that they meet the highest quality standards in cooperation with global accounting teams, the tax and legal departments, external partners and others as required. Continuously oversees compliance with group and local requirements;

- Whenever applicable, owns the relationship with the local partners and supports the preparation of the statutory accounts of the foreign entities under local GAAP. Coordinates and leads the preparation of the related analysis and supporting schedules;

- Takes part in cross-country, international accounting and cross-functional project teams and proactively works with the systems teams;

- Drives continuous improvement, standardization, reengineering of processes and controls and implementation of best practices;

- A strong team player, operates globally, cross-functionally and at all levels of the organization;

- Influences and articulates accounting and finance terminology to the non-finance community. Generates and maintains awareness across the different functions about accounting and controllership requirements according to applicable law, regulations and internal policies;

- Is a key contact point for communication with external parties, including but not limited to auditors, consultants, authorities and service providers.

With a role of this nature the following person profile would be an ideal fit:

- Knowledge of international accounting standards (ideally US GAAP or IFRS);

- A professional accountancy qualification;

- A significant number of years’ relevant professional experience;

- Excellent analytical skills. Detail-oriented but able to reflect on and understand the big picture;

- Proactive, process- and results-driven, able to set priorities right and committed to deadlines;

- Experience in working for a medium to large international company, preferably in a fast-paced and changing environment;

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Fluent English is mandatory;

- Experienced ERP user, computer literate.
