Senior Investment Analyst (Fixed Income) recruitment

You will support the Head of Investments by providing insightful and accurate analysis into market developments, the content, compliance with risk tolerances and developing trends/issues within the companies investment portfolio, and bring new investment ideas and opportunities.

Responsibilities

Monitor market developments, providing succinct, insightful management summaries of key themes, developments and implications for the investment portfolio

Work with the Head of Investments to monitor and analyse the activities and actions of external managers managing investment portfolios on behalf of company. Analyse and understand performance delivered, provide constructive challenge as appropriate

Identify, understand and monitor the inherent risks across all investment portfolios (eg credit risk, issuer risk, sector risk) and report against risk limits agreed by the Investment Committee. Understand and monitor the net impact of all derivative positions held across investment portfolios. Recommend amendments to the existing risk limits framework as appropriate based on sensitivity analysis undertaken/changing market conditions.

Support the Head of Investment in managing the gilt portfolio (held in-house).  E.g. identifying overall duration required (purchase/ sales of gilts, interest rate swaps), managing fund movements between all portfolios etc.

Provide detailed and timely analysis into:

 - new investment ideas presented by asset management houses, consultants, investment banks,

- asset manager selection/ de-selection decisions (egg due diligence of investment processes, track records etc)

Work closely with the Risk and Capital teams to ensure a strong alignment of interests and understanding of investment activities. Ensure complete understanding across all parties with regard to risk limits in force, limit utilisation, impact of market and investment actions on capital etc.

Input to management reports covering areas of responsibility (e.g. investment performance, key market developments, adherence with risk limits).

The Individual

A strong technical understanding of credit and financial markets required. Strong spreadsheet and data manipulation skills. Strong interpersonal skills in order to work successfully with other departments, external counterparties.

Business: Experience of working for insurance clients useful but not critical. Ability to build strong relationships across the business and with external fund management groups essential. Broader experience/ exposure to other asset classes (in addition to credit markets) helpful.

Technical: In depth knowledge of credit and financial markets. Very strong analytical and data manipulation skills, excellent spreadsheet skills and presentation ability (i.e. PowerPoint presentations, report writing, oral delivery of analysis).
