Position Summary
The position involves working with the senior portfolio management and transaction staff (typically a Vice President or Managing Director) in the Private Placement Group to monitor and manage the Private Placement portfolio and to analyze and make recommendations on existing portfolio holdings and new investments in private debt placements. The position will entail working with the Private Placement Group to:
* Manage the private placement portfolio including: reviewing periodic financial and compliance statements; spreading or updating five year financial summaries; completing credit reviews; analyzing amendment requests: ensuring accurate monthly portfolio pricing; and other duties as assigned.
* Assist with special projects as assigned.
The majority of the Senior Investment Analyst's time will be spent on managing the existing portfolio and analyzing new investment opportunities.
Responsibilities Include:
* Read corporate financial reports, analyst reports, news, etc. to monitor performance
* Spread company's financial results in Excel
* Write and present credit memos to credit committee.
Organizational Structure:
Position reports jointly to the Co-Heads of Corporate Private Placements. This team has 10 members. The investment analyst will interact with and take direction from multiple Private Placement team members. There are 35 members of the Private Placement Group 'PPG' (Corporate Privates is one asset class within PPG).
Performance Objectives:
* Assist senior analysts in all aspects of managing existing portfolio of private placement credits (reviews, amendments, pricing, watch list, etc.)
* Demonstrate growth throughout the year in key credit skills and communication skills.
* Become familiar with the Private Placement policies and procedures, particularly the Group Credit Process and Pricing Procedures.
Ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of work experience; including multiple years as a credit/investment analyst. A four-year degree from an accredited college or university is required, preferably in finance or accounting. An MBA and/or CFA are preferred. The candidate should have strong analytic skills, a working knowledge of financial statements and strong Excel skills. The candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong organization and prioritization skills, which allow him or her to complete multiple tasks with minimal supervision. The candidate should demonstrate high ethical standards, good judgment and flexibility in achieving the goals of the Private Placement team.
