Essential Functions:

1.                   Manager Discovery: Lead and direct manager discovery across a broad range of alternative and traditional asset classes. Continually develop and expand on a network of industry contacts and resources.

2.                   Manager Due Diligence: The analyst must be capable of performing all of the following:

•          Monitor Arnerich Massena’s approved manager search list and invested managers

•          Carry out and communicate investment manager due diligence activities. Track on-site visits required to meet client commitments and fulfill product evaluation and monitoring. Complete and distribute investment manager due diligence write-ups.

•          Sponsor, nominate, and present potential investment managers to the Investment Committee for inclusion on the approved manager list.

•          Monitor funded managers’ performance on a monthly basis or more frequently if needed.

•          Mentor junior analysts and assist in developing their due diligence and manager interviewing expertise.

3.                   Client Projects: Lead and manage client projects including manager searches, cash flow analysis, and traditional and alternative asset allocation studies.

4.                   Firm Representation: Attend client meetings and present investment options and specific manager information. Work with consultants and marketing to respond to RFPs. Assist in organizing Arnerich Massena’s sponsored events.

5.                   Mentoring: Develop materials, classes, or other vehicles for educating junior analysts and sharing expertise. Work with Director of Research and Analytics to ensure adequate progression of junior analysts.

Qualifications:

•          Comprehensive understanding of financial markets, including; fixed income, equity, international, and alternatives.

•          Strong fixed income and economic background preferred.

•          Comprehensive understanding of modern portfolio theory and asset allocation tools. 

•          Advanced Degree plus ten years direct industry experience, two years of which could be offset by CFA designation.

•          Prior experience with traditional and/or alternative investment research, including individual securities analysis or investment manager evaluation.

•          The senior analyst must have the ability to maintain positive working relationships with others in the investment industry, creating a solid network of industry contacts and resources.

•          Willingness to travel up to one week per month.

•          Ability to effectively interview investment managers and develop thoughtful opinions.   

•          Ability to write and communicate effectively. Develop correspondence to be sent to clients, including on watch letters, manager write-ups, termination notices, and other pertinent materials. 

•          Ability to initiate projects, assemble appropriate resources, and manage projects.

•          Ability to develop, present, and support thoughtful manager recommendations during Investment Committee meetings.
