Senior Investment Officer, Risk & Asset Allocation recruitment

CalPERS is currently looking to fill a Senior Investment Officer, Risk Asset Allocation position in the Investment Office, reporting to Joseph Dear, Chief Investment Officer. This role will play an integral part in identifying, understanding, measuring and managing risk across the multiple asset classes that CalPERS invests in on behalf of all those who participate in the system.

The individual who assumes this position will have an opportunity to make a significant positive contribution not only to CalPERS but also to the risk management profession and to the pension industry and related financial services industry segments by exhibiting inspired leadership in this role. This is a highly impactful and visible position in one of the world’s largest and most prominent pension funds.

As the senior most member of the Risk Management Asset Allocation Group, this individual will utilize a broad and deep knowledge of risk management and global capital markets, to provide insight, support and challenge to each of the asset classes and to develop a cross asset-class approach to managing investment risk. The individual is expected to work closely with the Board Investment Committee and Senior Investment Officers across Equity, Fixed Income, Real Assets and Private Equity portfolios to develop and implement risk management practices designed to aid the short and long-term goals of CalPERS and specifically make sure that the organization is able to deliver the highest risk-adjusted return on the investment portfolio in a prudent manner.
