The Thinking Ahead Group (TAG) is an internal thought leadership group, established ten years ago as part of the investment line of business. Our role in investment is to promote innovation by challenging the status quo and solving future problems. While the group is based primarily in the UK, it operates with a global remit.

The role

To contribute to the research efforts of the Thinking Ahead Group, at a senior level.

Main duties and responsibilities

Challenge conventional thinking in investment-based services and develop innovative solutions to issues

Influence the direction of thought leadership initiatives

Lead specific TAG projects through research, writing papers, preparing slides, initiating debates, developing solutions

Analyse and interpret trends in global pension and investment markets, assessing the complex implications of these trends and the likely consequences of change

Engage with global colleagues to achieve buy-in to TAG innovation and develop consulting opportunities

Contribute to the thought leadership brand internally and externally

Candidate profile (Skills and knowledge)

• A self-starter

• A record of challenging conventional thinking

• Commercially aware, committed to delivering fresh thinking to longer-term issues

• Strong academic background. Diversity of thinking is one of TAG’s strengths. Consequently applicants do not need to have a financial degree

• A relevant professional qualification

• Good working knowledge of global pension and investment markets and their issues

• Able to think laterally and make connections in a complex environment

• Strong research credentials, able to interpret information and draw conclusions

• Well-read across a wide range of subjects

• Effective oral and written communication skills

• Strong team player with good people skills and the ability to debate and influence at all levels
