Senior Lab Technician, Proximate Analysis

Coordination and conducting of QC release testing utilizing accepted laboratory techniques for proximate analyses of finished products and non-routine special studies.  Coordination and shipment of third party analysis samples.  Organization of daily work assignments within group rotations.  Work in a laboratory environment using teamwork and interpersonal skills to accomplish goals.  Operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments.  Keep management and other departments informed as appropriate of quality issues through timely verbal and written communication.  Perform complex calculations and trouble shooting of quality problems.  Perform duties required in the routine maintenance of a safe and appropriate laboratory environment which is compliant with company and regulatory standards.  Participate in new methods development, method validation, and regular review of methods.  Maintain current, complete, legible laboratory records in compliance with good scientific and regulatory practices.  Maintain laboratory metrics.  Flexibility to perform routine analysis or projects in other laboratory areas.

Special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree with specialization in a natural science (such as chemistry or food science), or equivalent professional experience within a related field.  Three to 5 years of experience in a quality control laboratory preferred.  Demonstrates attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.  Demonstrates ability to work both independently and as part of a team.  Has the ability to effectively use Microsoft based computer applications and to understand laboratory information management systems.  Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
