Senior & Lead Mechanical Engineers Job in South West England, South West Uk
We are working on an exclusive campaign for the UK's leading engineering services provider based in the South West to identify senior and lead mechanical engineering talent. Due to an extensive order book and long term defence contracts our client currently requires 30+ engineers.

Our client is a market leader in the fields of defence and nuclear engineering and enjoys the backing of a large international group. As a design and manufacturing specialist, the client has the capability to take an idea, develop the design, build and manufacture the product.
The Opportunity
As an integral member of the Mechanical team, candidates at this level would normally be expected to perform work involving considerable independence in approach, demanding originality, ingenuity and judgment. The individuals will make key technical decisions and are expected to 'own' all aspects of their design. Ideally you will be a member of a relevant institution and hold Chartered or Incorporated status
Your work will involve the planning, design and delivery of complex Defence systems equipment. You may be requested to undertake concept or detailed design dependent upon the maturity of the projects underway.
You will have
Extensive design office experience
An in-depth knowledge of engineering physics
Mechanical design experience at system and sub-system level (including mechanisms structures)
Knowledge of integrating hydraulic/pneumatic systems into designs
Design costing and programming
Ability to perform strength calculations for the sizing of equipment
An understanding of what can and can't be practically manufactured
An ability to design for Availability, Reliability Maintainability
Appreciation of electrical/electronic (and other) control methodologies
Experience of Defence or Nuclear preferred Med to Heavy Engineering ideal
