Purpose
The role provides support to Head, Custody Funds Legal Services and Head, Corporate Legal Services by managing custody funds and corporate legal issues for RBC Investor Services Bank S.A. in Luxembourg other designated European jurisdictions
Primary responsibilities
Responsibility for the Custody Funds Legal Services and Corporate Legal Services functions in Luxembourg (and other designated European jurisdictions), namely:
- Legal advisory services to custody and funds segment, operations and sales
- Oversight of client documentation for the custody and funds segment (Custody Funds Segment) including assistance in the development and maintenance of harmonized client documentation (as feasible) to improve ease of business and overall client experience
- Litigation management and reporting
- Vendor Agreements
- Major outsourcing
- Marketing Support
- Legal advisory services to Luxembourg functional areas
- Regulatory analysis coordination
Manages team of Luxembourg based lawyer and Documentation Manager with responsibility for Corporate Legal Services as well Custody Funds Segment related documentation in Luxembourg (and other designated European jurisdictions).
Senior responsibility for assessing and responding to client and business legal documentation queries from Custody Funds Segment, or by lawyer/documentation team and
Key relationships
- Key internal relationships with Legal, Risk Management and Compliance and all staff at all levels up to Luxembourg MD level including Client Service Managers, Sales and Relationship Managers and Directors of New Business and Client Solutions, Network Managers
- Represents Legal Services on key internal groups and committees such as the New Business Committee and/or Luxembourg Management Committee
- Key external relationships with clients and their lawyers and representatives
- Key external relationships with marketplace organizations in Luxembourg impacting the business
Authorities, impacts and risks
- The desired impact of the role is to manage and coordinate corporate and Custody Funds Segment legal and documentation issues in Luxembourg (and other designated European jurisdictions) and improve ease of business and client experience in a manner consistent with global standards
- The desired impact of the role is to reduce legal and reputational risk and generate cost saving by promoting operational efficiencies, harmonized documentation and increasing productivity
- Ensuring mitigation of legal and regulatory risk regarding agreements and litigation matters

Education or ExperienceRequired
- University or Post-graduate Degree
- Licensed and practicing Lawyer
- Extensive experience in a Legal environment.
- Extensive legal experience in the Luxembourg Custody Funds environment
Skills
- Above average IT skills including proficiencies with Microsoft Word, Outlook and other applications
- Knowledge of RBC Investor Services Bank S.A. Corporate Policies
- Understanding and knowledge of regulatory environment and standards
