Senior Linux Administrator
TEKsystems currently has an opening for a Senior Linux Administrator in Kansas City. This will be a contract to hire position. The contractor shall provide technical support services necessary for the maintenance and management of the server infrastructure. The contractor shall be responsible for providing all facets of the OCFO server administration services to include: - Server Administration of Red Hat Linux, MS Windows Server, VmWare, and Citrix XenApp environments - Systems Configuration and Change Management - Data Backup and Recovery - Incident Response - System Performance and Capacity Management - Support and Implementation of Security Management Policies - Continuity of Operations Plan / Disaster Recovery Support - Software and Hardware Inventory Management - Operations Documentation and Reporting - Systems Architecture and Design Engineering - User Identification and Access Management MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - Preliminary clearance for MBI to start - full clearance to convert to full time. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/MIS and/or equivalent working experience. - Minimum of four years experience in a position requiring Linux Redhat Server and/or Microsoft Windows Server technical problem solving skills. - Knowledge and understanding of Redhat Linux and Windows Server components (TCP/IP, Domain, DNS, WINS, DHCP, Kick-start, Shell Scripting, RPM) architecture, design, analysis and performance tools. - Strong analytical ability, including operations methodology, and error detection and resolution techniques. - Must maintain security and confidentiality of information accessible on Systems. - Strong understanding of Ethernet topology, TCP/IP protocol. Hardware - Knowledge and understanding with the following concepts: High availability, fault tolerant, multi-processor server-class computers. - Understanding of Intel based architecture, Ethernet Network Interface card configurations, SCSI controller functions and configurations, and the latest tape backup technologies. - Knowledge of server diagnostics, analysis and trouble-shooting techniques. - Understanding of systems integration and implementation utilizing a phased approach, industry best practices, planning and impact analysis. Customer Service - Strong customer service skills. - Must be able to manage multiple tasks in a changing environment. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Strong human relations skills and ethical conduct. - Knowledge of industry standards, trends and general business processes. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Four to Six years comprehensive Microsoft Windows and Redhat Linux Systems and industry experience. - Experience supporting Systems in a medium to large, multi-user, and multi-tier environment. - Microsoft and/or Redhat Linux certifications.
