Senior Linux (Debian) Engineer - New Migration Project - Puppet/MySQL - £60k Senior Linux Systems Administrator is required by this leading E-commerce organization to join its permanent team working on a new migration project where you will be offered career growth, travel opportunities and fantastic benefits. You will need to have significant experience with High Volume and High Available Linux environments, with a focus on Java based applications running on Tomcat. You will be in charge of maintaining a large MySQL pool as this is also a substantial part of our day to day activities and you must also be able to configure, maintain, monitor, troubleshoot, optimize and expand our web, database and application pools in order to keep our websites available at all times. Requirements Hands-on experience with High-Volume and High-Available environments, skills in Linux administration, preferably Debian based variant including packaging software (deb/rpm), automated installs (FAI or Kickstart), Linux HAExcellent Scripting skills in non Shell language (Python/Ruby) Experience in Java environments with Tomcat or Resin Excellent MySQL administration - replication, tuning/troubleshooting, backup and recovery Good understanding of scaling web applications, caching, HTTP headers, loadbalancing, CDNs, webservers (Apache/Lighttpd/Nginx) Exposure to running LAMP at scale including memcached and fastcgi Able to use versioning systems like GIT or SVN, Experience with Nagios and Cacti, Cope
