Summary: Proofpoint is seeking an experienced Linux Systems Administrator to join the Operations team. This position is full-time, and can be based at our offices in Sunnyvale, CA or Toronto, ON and reports to the Manager of Archiving Operations. The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for all aspects of the Proofpoint Archive production data center services applications including servers, operating systems, storage, and supporting systems. Duties: Manage an international, 24-7/always-on, multi-site infrastructure powering the Proofpoint services, maintenance, tuning, troubleshooting, securing and backup of systems Design, implement, and operate a scalable and reliable systems infrastructure supporting a fast-growth hosted service Ensure proper security, monitoring, alerting, and reporting for the infrastructure Troubleshooting and resolving escalated issues Capacity planning for all aspects of the infrastructure Developing and maintaining processes, tools, and documentation in support of the production environment Participate in evaluation of new software, hardware and infrastructure solutions Be available 24/7 in a 4th tier escalation capacity Requirements: Strong working knowledge of Linux systems and applications including MySQL, Java, and Perl Excellent verbal and written communication skills Minimum of 5 years hands on detailed Linux experience Ability to administer a multi-site, customer-facing infrastructure Linux experience in a 24x7 operations environment Good working knowledge with Perl, shell, Python, and Ruby scripting Knowledge with puppet or any configuration management application Understanding of general/common Systems Administration technologies (DNS, LDAP, etc.) Work with large-scale VM and bare-metal infrastructure Process development and new technology evaluation Process automation (I.e., scripting repetitive tasks); able to update current scripts Must have either American citizenship or joint Canadian / American citizenship Proofpoint, Inc. helps the largest and most successful companies in the world protect and govern their most sensitive data.
