At Merck Co., Inc Manufacturing facility in Elkton, Virginia, we currently have a Senior Maintenance Coordinator position available at the Stonewall Plant; which is located in the Shenandoah Valley along the Shenandoah River and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The facility is just a short distance from major state universities: University of Virginia and James Madison University. The Senior Maintenance Coorindator role at the Elkton, VA Manufacturing Plant is responsible for ensuring that maintenance activities are scheduled, planned and carried out in the manufacturing area. The Coordinator is responsible for daily coordinatoration of all mechanical efforts within the department, including maintenance and installation of equipment, while minimizing impact on productivity and controlling expenses within necessary cost parameters; generates work requirements utilizing SAP and maintains records of preventative maintenance. The Coordinator is fully knowledgeable of the process and provides problem solving and troubleshooting assistance to the manufacturing area; additionally, supports investigations of process atypicals. Primary Activities: 1. Schedules MI activities within the Operating Area. Issues and prioritizes work permits for mechanical and contract personnel. Ensures compliance of contract and mechanical personnel with safe work practices and manages any violations. 2. Prepares equipment for routine and emergency mechanical work which includes "lock out/tag out" of equipment and proper clean out during major prcoess shutdowns 3. Participates in capital and project work design including HAZOP Analysis. Assists in specifying the design and installation of new process equipment. Participates in process demonstrations. Develops start up and standard operating procedures and troubleshoots new process equipment. 4. Initiates and distributes appropriate documentation for equipment alterations, including forms for regulatory assessment, change control and revision markups for applicable PID's. follows through on all equipment changes ensuring change control documentation is completed in a timely manner. 5. Partners with area maintenance support personnel to identify and implement activities for continuous improvement of equipment reliability. 6. Ensures equipment availability and personnel schedules allow for required maintenance within the necessary time frame for all critical preventative maintenance tasks. Ensures completion of critical PM's. Follows site procedures for issuing documentation for deletion/revision/creation of PM's. 7. Generates, approves and completes SAP work orders on a daily basis for jobs that he/she assigns independently Qualifications Required Qualifications: * Below are the required education and experience qualifications: * A high school diploma/GED and a minimum of ten (10) years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or military environment * An Associate's Degree in a Technical Discipline and a minimum of eight (8) years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or military environment or * A Journeyman's Certification or a Bachelor's Degree in a Technical Discipline and a minimum of six (6) years experience in a manufacturing or military environment * Experience with all mechanical crafts and routine maintenance tasks. * Knowledge or regulatory requirements for manufacutring, safety and environmental * Experience using interpersonal skills working as a team member in a maintenance support group * General computer skills * Oral and written communication skills * Time management skills Preferred: * Maintenance planning and scheduling skills * Prior supervisory experience Our employees are the key to our company's success.
