During the last 19 years, WfWI has transformed the lives of more than 317,000 socially-excluded women and distributed over $103 million in direct aid and microcredit loans, benefiting more than 1.7 million family and community members in the process. In 2011, over 78,549 women in all eight countries received program services, with more than 40,000 sponsors from 94 countries across the world. WfWI has over 600 employees worldwide, and each of our country offices are fully staffed by women and men from the local community.
Purpose
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Senior Major Gifts Officer is responsible for overseeing the solicitation and stewardship of gifts between $5,000 and $50,000.
Outreach and Fundraising
- Implement the major gifts annual fundraising plan to meet the team revenue goal through recruitment, retention and upgrade strategies.
- Maintain a major gift portfolio of $5K-$50K donors and prospects ensuring timely communication, cultivation and stewardship including face-to-face visits.
- Develop and implement a prospect management plan to meet fundraising targets managing a portfolio of up to 150 active donors and prospects.
- Participate in the development of major donor strategies including donor trips and events.
- Ensure cross-departmental coordination with program, grants, marketing and finance teams to develop major donor asks, cultivation, etc.
- Participate in the development of the annual Development operational/strategic plan and revenue target setting.
Financial and Administrative Management
- Develop and manage budget for major donor portfolio and proactively communicate significant expected variances (favorable and unfavorable)
- Provide timely and accurate financial reports on major donor portfolio
- Appropriate utilization of the existing database and other systems for prospect management tracking
Staff Management
- May supervise administrative staff or interns

Skills and Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree
· Five years of development experience, including major gift experience preferred, however candidates with the applicable skills and experience from the private sector may be considered
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail essential
· Must be able to work well both independently and with others
· Established track record of success in identifying likely prospects and donor cultivation
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
· Excellent computer skills, including competency with standard business applications and database systems
· Willing to travel
· Strong commitment to the mission and goals of Women for Women International
