Senior Manager – Group Investments (Singapore) recruitment
Typically they have purchased a stake when the share price is weak and the market has misjudged the prospects of the company. They are often one of the largest minority shareholders. The responsibility of this role is to co-ordinate the team that manages these investments with a view to maximizing their long term investment returns.
Strategies are many but could involve further investment via an instrument their choice, co-investment directly in a high value project, shareholder activism to improve governance or simply deciding to harvest their existing returns.
Doing this effectively will require representing the business in a highly professional and polished way and developing productive relationships with the most senior executives of these large public companies. New investments will be sourced by the team under the direct guidance of the Chairman and after the initial investment is completed, management and value maximization responsibility will move to this new hire. This senior position will be supported by a small team of investment professionals.
The successful candidate will:
• Be a highly successful and experienced individual with a varied career track record, who is looking for a unique challenge which utilizes business and personal skills.
• Gravitas is critical. The candidate must project the image of a senior executive for a highly professional investment firm
• 10-15+ years experience private equity or corporate development a must.
• Experience in company management. The candidate will ideally have run a business or potentially a country/region for a major corporation. The potential candidate might also come from a Portfolio Management position within a Private Equity Fund. They are not looking for a banker.
• Great communication skills both verbally and written.
• Be able to lead with resolve or follow without a bruised ego
• Have big-picture strategy skills and in-the-trenches execution skills
• Be meticulous and unfazed by impossible standards
• Be able to earn the trust of [both junior and senior] colleagues
• Have a strong desire to achieve but not at the expense of others
