Senior Manager
The Accounting, Valuation, Analytics ("AVA") service area is comprised of practitioners with skills related to the understanding and application of technical accounting standards, financial reporting, valuation techniques and methodologies for derivatives, financial instruments, and other investment products, market, credit and liquidity risk analytics, quantitative risk assessment and forecasting models, structured finance transactions, cash flow modeling, data integrity, data modeling, statistical sampling, capital markets transaction support and due diligence
- Develop and manage strong client relationships through interactions with client personnel
- Demonstrate knowledge in investment and/or commercial/wholesale banking industries and functional specialty.
- Assume responsibility for managing engagements.
- Demonstrated track record of team leadership and project management.
- Strong client service delivery skills including ability of executing engagements to Deloitte client service standards.
- Experience mentoring staff, evaluating performance, and providing candid performance feedback.
- Recognize, communicate and lead opportunities to sell "add–on" work and new work to clients.
- Writing/reviewing of various reports related to engagements.
- Present to internal and external audiences.
- Demonstrate high level of understanding of client's business.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge industry or functional specialty.
- Develop excellent professional oral and written communication skills in order to establish working relationships with client personnel.
- Exhibit a professional, business–like demeanor.
- Apply problem solving skills and deliver Deloitte methodology on engagements.
- Build and broaden industry knowledge to support organization and functional initiatives by taking advantage of our local and national training programs.
- Exercise professional judgment on engagements by providing proactive solutions and recommendations.
- Provide recommendations for improved and enhanced business efficiency to clients.
- Demonstrate leadership and provide guidance to Advisory staff.
- Proactively manage career – set goals and career plans with advisor/career counselor.
- Strong background in mathematical finance at the level of a Master's level degree in Mathematical Finance, Mathematics of Finance, Financial Engineering or Quantitative Finance is generally a prerequisite, although very strong undergraduates with necessary background and/or relevant work experience may be considered.
- 8+ years of relevant work experience required.
- PhD, CPA, CIA, CFA, CA, CCA, CMA, CAIA or FRM Certification Required.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%.
- Strong programming skills in C#, Java, SQL, Excel VBA, MATLAB or equivalent.
- Ability to explain difficult financial modeling/valuation concepts to diverse audiences and to experts at various clients.
- Candidate needs to be comfortable providing technical assistance and financial modeling expertise to non–technical clients and internal teams.
- Strong background in the risk methodologies related to current and projected regulatory rules. Specifically, Basel 2, Basel 2.5, and Basel 3 focusing on market, credit, and liquidity risks and/or SCAP and CCAR stress testing.
- Strong analytical and computer skills including experience with quantitative analysis technical tools and techniques such as Bloomberg, MATLAB, Monte–Carlo Simulation tools such as Crystal Ball and @Risk and risk vendor packages such as QuIC, R2, and Algorithmics.
- Familiarity with financial markets, trading, deal structuring, and risk management is highly beneficial.
- Understanding of advanced risk measurement methodologies is desired and experience with derivatives and complex financial instruments risk measurement is a plus.
- Proficiency in MS office products, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong technical and organization skills.
