The Senior Manager, Benefits Communications reports directly to the VP, Internal Communications within the Stakeholder Engagement COE of Global Communications. The role leads and supports all benefits communications initiatives, including strategic planning, content development, and compliance with regulatory mandates.
- Development of annual communications strategy to support benefit and ex-pat/relocation programs.
- Day-to-day in-house management of communications in support of employee health and welfare, retirement and ex-pat/relocation benefit programs, including emails, wellness campaigns, FAQs, new hire materials, etc.
- Manage employee communications for annual open enrollment process - brochures, promotions, website content.
- Maintain benefits-related content updates for Benefits of Nielsen and internal Nielsen intranet sites.
- Act as subject matter expert on benefits policy interpretation, procedures and processes.
- Collaborate with Human Resources/Benefits to coordinate, implement, and communicate wellness programs.
- Prepare specialty communications regarding enrollment, benefit/plan changes, and other legally required messages.
- Develop and maintain communications calendar in support of health and welfare, retirement and mobility plans.
- Collaborate with Legal on policy handbook development and updates.
- Draft/update Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs), SMMs, and plan documents for health and retirement plans.
- Monitor statutory and regulatory benefit communication requirements associated with health plans.
- Draft and coordinate benefit related communications regarding mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, etc.
- Research new legislation
- B.A. in HR, Business Administration or Communications preferred; Benefits certification a plus
- Minimum 3+ years of progressive experience (more experience desired) in all facets of benefits communications/administration
- Experience developing and implementing benefits communications programs
- Working knowledge of employee benefits legislation
- Experience with full-cycle Open Enrollment planning, implementation and communication
- Strong writing and oral communication required
- Detail-oriented skills
- Proficient PC skills and knowledge of communication tools (email, intranet/extranet)
- Ability to interact and establish relationships effectively with all levels of employees, to include senior management
