Strong prudential management has been a key to Macquarie's success over many years. The Risk Management Group is an independent, centralised unit responsible for assessing and monitoring risks across the Macquarie Group. The Compliance Division within Macquarie's Risk Management Group provides compliance support and advice to Macquarie's operating businesses. Compliance staff are aligned with Macquarie's operating businesses, assisting those businesses globally to manage their compliance risks. These, together with a strong, committed team are key drivers of Macquarie's success.
Macquarie's Financial Management Group provides financial, tax and treasury services to all areas of Macquarie. The Compliance team directly supports the Group Treasury functions (such as external-facing transaction and relationship management teams and funding areas and related support areas), as well as Finance and Taxation.
As a Senior Compliance Manager, you will consult with and advise key stakeholders within your client group to ensure Macquarie continues to meet the obligations within its regulatory and compliance framework. An experienced compliance practitioner, your ability to engage, consult with and influence senior stakeholders will be critical to your success.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring compliance by the Financial Management Group's Australian staff with internal and external policies
- Review and enhance Macquarie's current compliance frameworks , where appropriate
- Consult with stakeholders to ensure compliance risks are understood, appropriately assessed and properly managed
- Reviewing marketing material to ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements
- Support the design and maintenance of policies, training programme and general compliance projects
- Monitoring and surveillance activities and assisting internal audit function as required
- Liaising with Macquarie's groupwide Compliance function on internal reviews, ad hoc queries
To succeed in this role you possess:
- Strong regulatory compliance experience gained within an institutional bank supported by relevant tertiary qualifications and a solid understanding of the Australian regulatory environment, and ideally some exposure to other global regulators
- Proven ability to succeed in a complex stakeholder environment, with strong relationship building and influencing skills
- A balance between a strategic outlook with ability to execute effectively
- A solid understanding of transaction, funding and associated areas within an institutional banking environment
