Role Description:
Baringa Partners have successfully grown a thriving Financial Services practice since 2007 and are now looking to leverage the organisation’s performance to deliver substantial additional growth over the next 3 years. Our Financial Services practice has built an enviable reputation within the market over a short period of time and now has a large blue-chip client base for which it delivers an exciting variety of high quality engagements, competing successfully against the well-known and established major consultancy brands and strategy houses.
We are looking for an experienced individual with strong experience in Compliance/Conduct Risk within Financial Services (primarily retail focused in Insurance, Retail Banking, Asset Management or Investment Management) to help us expand the Baringa Financial Services practice and fully contribute to the ongoing development of this important part of our business. We believe this is a unique opportunity for an individual to get involved in a thriving business and to help shape and drive the growth of the practice through real business development, proposition development and exciting client delivery. The candidate will be able to demonstrate a sales track record but will be equally comfortable assuming a delivery role on client site where required, either at established or new Baringa Financial Services clients.
This is a role for someone who enjoys thinking strategically and can act as a trusted advisor, helping Compliance Officers and senior business leaders to shape their business in the face of complex regulatory demands and changing markets.
Example Projects
- Lead a project with a hedge fund to help the front office understand its compliance obligations and implement a 3 Lines of Defence model
- Investigate an insurance broker’s back-book of business and identify potential conduct risk issues; develop remediation strategies and an implementation roadmap
- Run a s166 skilled person review of a retail bank’s complaint management process and recommend improvements
- Carry out a compliance due diligence assessment of a potential takeover target
Required Skills/Experience
- Experience within a consulting firm is mandatory (e.g. Big 4, Accenture, Promontory, Complyport)
- Strong working knowledge of the Insurance industry either from your time in consulting or a role in industry
- Functional knowledge within some/all of the following areas:
- Retail Distribution Review (RDR)
- Packaged Retail Investment Products (PRIPS)
- Insurance Mediation Directive (IMD)
- Treating Customers Fairly (TCF)
- Experience of generating clients from your own network within the Financial Services industry including proposition development
- Strong understanding of the business context for insurers, assets managers retail banks
- Strong academic performance in a degree at graduate or undergraduate level
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
