Team Description

The EMEA Data Processing and Control Unit sit within the new EMEA Risk Architecture (ERA) function which is based across London, Manchester Brussels. This team is responsible for the collation, control, validation and reconciliation of all data required in the ERA function in EMEA. The team is also responsible for maintenance and consistency of underlying processes, systems, documentation and policy. The team will interface with the global teams on an on-going basis to ensure where possible consistency in data quality practices is achieved.

EDPCU will play a key role in ensuring the adequacy and control of information, as well as ensuring consistency across the rest of the function which in turn ensured consistency in the EMEA region for stress testing, ICAAP and information. Importantly, all audit files, change control and development of systems will be managed from this team. The team will also run advanced capital analysis on a quarterly basis, such as automated running of economic downturns, quantitative models and sensitivity analysis for the ERA.

The team will be responsible for sourcing underlying quantitative data, as well as monitoring qualitative data quality and regional consolidation of information, such as the stress testing schedules. The team will also be responsible for change management around standard templates and reports

Role Description

This role is to lead the function responsible for owning, maintaining and developing key Risk and finance data inputs for BNYM Stress Testing Models and ICAAP, together with regular processing of Risk models, control and oversight of BNYMs Stress Testing Framework. The jobholder is required to support the Head of Risk Architecture in the operation, maintenance and continuing development of stress testing and related processes for BNYM EMEA business, in the internal planning context, and in the external context of reporting to regulators. The responsibilities can be divided into three broad categories:

Data review and reconciliation,

IT System development and maintenance

Stress Testing Framework maintenance and EMEA stakeholder Management

The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that the end to end stress testing process operates consistent with BNYMs Stress Testing Policy, under the highest level of governance, with all modeling tools, input templates, approaches and methodologies fully documented, and subject to ERAs standard change control procedures.

Leading the maintenance and consistency of underlying processes, systems, documentation and policy

Ensuring the adequacy and control of information, as well as ensuring consistency across the rest of the function and within the EMEA region

Leading initiatives around regional consolidation of information, such as the stress testing schedules. Managing the change process around standard Stress Testing templates and reports

The incumbent will also be responsible for managing relationships with local regulatory bodies, both in terms of written communications and also management of capital related supervisory reviews, therefore demonstrable experience of supervisory review processes is vital. He or she must be highly self motivated and able to manage high volumes of workloads and priorities effectively during peak times to the standards and within the boundaries of the EMEA Stress Testing Framework. The incumbent will also be vital to the ongoing development of the Framework.

The primary consumers of various reports are the Board of Directors and the Executive Management Groups across EMEA and at a global level. The incumbent will be responsible to manage the underlying controls, data, systems and processes to support the stress testing programme, through managing a team of quantitative analysts, data quality and control specialists.

The organization quantifies risk by type (Credit Risk, Operating Risk, Market Risk, Interest Rate Risk, and Strategic Risk etc) in a manner acceptable to bank regulators. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing all data quality and reconciliations exercises associated with the capital models, as well as managing the scheduling of capital model calculations and maintaining any systems and databases required to for producing stress tests as well as reports.

The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the management of stress testing and ICAAP framework, policies, guidelines, process flows and templates and lead the implementation of enhancements as and when required.

The incumbent, as part of the wider team will be required to undertake analysis of regulations and build remediation plans for recommendations and implementation in-region and it is vital the role holder is able to understand and comply with these as well as input to and work within internal guidelines.

Qualifications

Key Requirements

Strong analytic skills, management skills, interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills. Risk management, statistics, the regulatory environment, credit and corporate policies, and reserve accounting. Strong knowledge of the BNY Mellon organization and its products and services.

Highly adept at managing multiple stakeholder relationships across a range of levels. He or she will report directly into senior level committees and Boards in the areas they are responsible for and provide guidance to stakeholders in relation to data definitions, reconciliation and timescales. He or she must be excellent forward planner to allow deliverables to be communicated and timelines met.

The incumbent will be reliant on, and must be able to effectively work with other members of the stress testing function for processing, data and quantitative model outputs. The incumbent must also be able to manage workload both for their own area, as well as be aware of the dependencies across the wider team. Ability to demonstrate relationship building and team work across a diverse team both culturally and across locations is paramount.

The incumbent must be fully conversant with current regulations in relation to risk, finance data and advanced measurement approaches for capital requirements and also stress testing across the EU. It is essential to also have a good working knowledge of Pillar 1, Pillar 2, Pillar 3, liquidity and recovery and resolution requirements

Minimum of MBA or MS.10-15 years of direct relevant work experience including extensive risk management framework, architecture and systems experience. Proven understanding of current EU stress testing guidelines is essential.

Must have strong working knowledge and proven expertise of advanced quantitative modeling approaches for ICAAP/Pillar 2 in Europe.

The incumbent will interact with a wide range of internal stakeholders across the region, so must have excellent communication skills. Data input to risk models and outputs from the ICAAP, stress testing and Pillar 2 are strategically important and inform business decisions, pricing models and are presented to senior level committees and Boards for approval. The function is also responsible for managing capital adequacy across the region and making capital recommendations to senior level committees. The quality and availability of data is a key contribution to this process and as such ensuring that data is available and accurate is essential. Professional qualification in one of the following: MIS, Finance, Statistics, Information Quality. Masters/MBA in one of the following: MIS, Finance, Statistics, Information Quality is preferred. PHD and 15 years of relevant experience preferred.
