Senior Manager, Group Media Relations recruitment
This client is one of Australia's largest financial institutions, providing a broad range of products and services to its large base of retail, business and institutional customers. The organisation provides financial services to consumers, corporate, institutions and governments, with branches throughout Australia, New Zealand and the near Pacific region.
There is currently an opportunity for an experienced Media Relations Senior Manager to join the Group Media Relations team in Sydney. This is a broad position but will have a particular emphasis on issues management to protect and enhance the reputation of the brand. Reporting to the Head of Group Media Relations, you will be expected to proactively manage the media strategy and execution of media programs, while working closely with senior business executives across the business. The position will require a strong communicator with strong contacts, particularly with key financial journalists, and deep understanding of media agendas and processes. The role is perfect for someone looking for a senior role in a business that promotes a team focused environment.
Responsibilities:
- Drive media engagement program, advising and supporting senior managers and key spokespeople on media and issues
- Identify and execute media opportunities, developing strategic media plans and driving pro-active media programs
- Act as a spokesperson for the Bank to provide information and handle issues
- Actively monitor developing issues and manage negative issues ensuring the brand is protected at all times
- Develop media materials for company results announcements, including results and AGM
- Prepare media material - releases, backgrounders, briefing papers, fact sheets, QA's
The successful candidate will have at least 7 years' experience in a role dealing with media, including financial and general media - broadsheets, tabloid, commercial radio and TV. A journalist background will be an advantage as well as experience in working for large financial institution and good knowledge of banking products and business processes. You will possess excellent communication skills - persuading, influencing and negotiation, with a demonstrated ability to work under pressure and working with senior executives in large corporations.
