Senior Manager Innovative Finance

It is also a world leader in innovative finance for development, having pioneered the International Finance Facility for Immunisation (IFFIm), the Advance Market Commitment (AMC) for pneumococcal vaccines, and the GAVI Matching Fund. We are looking for a skilled professional to design, structure and implement innovative finance mechanisms. Key results expected include managing the IFFIm structure and IFFIm projects, as well as generating new innovative finance mechanisms.

Duties and responsibilities include supporting the origination and leading the execution of innovative finance products; interfacing with the World Bank on the IFFIm structure and capital market considerations; coordinating the day-to-day delivery of GAVI services to IFFIm; leading, reviewing, editing and refining financial models through demonstrated proficiency in corporate finance and capital markets; preparing written reports and presentation materials used in GAVI Board, IFFIm Board and donor meetings; managing IFFIm Board and donor correspondence and actions; and travel for the GAVI Innovative Finance team. Minimum of a Master’s degree from a leading university, in engineering, mathematics, economics, business, accounting or finance required.

Work experience:

A progressive career that includes at least seven years of experience in designing and implementing financial solutions for a major bank, investment bank, consulting firm or corporation, in a corporate finance or structured finance environment.

Skills and competencies:

The successful candidate will have a high degree of knowledge of the practical workings of the international capital markets and corporate finance; exceptional financial structuring and financial engineering skills; a good understanding of and interest in global health initiatives; and proven ability to think and work independently and creatively, and to meet aggressive deadlines. This individual will be expected to have a high degree of proven proficiency in and comfort with planning and managing complex project processes involving numerous participants; have strong writing, presentation and communication skills; be detail-oriented; and be highly proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint. The candidate must be a team player, have a collaborative style, be creative and innovative with an engaging personality, possess the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and travel 15% or more of the time. Excellent written and spoken English required. Proficiency in a second language, preferably French, an asset.
